- PROJECT: A system agnostic catalogue of magic shops for role-playing games.
- ROLE: Wrote shop entry; developed character interactions; designed items.
- SKILLS: Giving and providing feedback; writing with system agnosticism in mind.
The Magic Shop Catalogue is a collection of 16 ready-to-play dynamic magic shops, aimed at tabletop role-players looking for places to riffle through magic items and interact with colorful, larger-than-life characters. The book is system agnostic, meaning it can be picked up and used by players across different game systems. In other words, the items presented in the book are less about granting “+1 to dodge rolls” and more about “making the wearer harder to hit”.
“All beasts speak the same language and it is written in blood, flesh, and bone. To mantle their power means to strip it from them and claim it for yourself.”
My contribution to the catalogue was The Tear & Wear – a macabre store brimming with the magical skulls and hides of mythological creatures, run by the grizzled hunter-veteran, Garfred Manymane. The chapter was edited and arranged graphically by professionals. You can find the store page of the catalogue right here or read a small excerpt of my contribution below.
